It Starts with the Technology
Vaya’s hybrid propulsion platform is the foundation of everything we do.
Our rocket engines use solid fuel and liquid oxidizer, combining the performance and controllability of a liquid bipropellant engine with the simplicity and reliability of a solid rocket motor.
Precise control of oxidizer flow enables restart and throttle capabilities that rival the most flexible rocket engines ever produced. And our solid fuel grains are 3D printed from 99% recycled thermoplastic, a completely non-explosive fuel that makes Vaya rocket engines simpler, safer, and more controllable.

Vaya’s in-space propulsion platform is designed to rapidly maneuver satellites between orbits, avoid space debris or active threats, extend satellites’ operational lifetimes, and deorbit them when their mission is complete. Featuring the power and controllability for rapid, dynamic responses, our systems are long-term storable on orbit and adaptable to standard ESPA fittings.
WHY VAYA
A New Approach to
Design and Manufacturing
To redefine the scalability, cost, and development speed possible in advanced space and defense systems, Vaya had to reimagine design and manufacturing.
The design process begins with in-house software that models the performance of thousands of geometries and configurations to perform the early stages of iterative design and optimization autonomously. Once designed, a prototype is 3D printed out of recycled plastic and metal for testing at one of our on-campus test facilities. 3D printing allows us to design parts that would be impossible to manufacture just 10 years ago, raising the ceiling of efficiency and performance.
The combination of a simple, low part count architecture with flexible additive manufacturing allows us to design our propulsion systems with scalable DNA. In a matter of months, Vaya can design, manufacture, and fire a custom-sized engine variant that maintains in-family performance characteristics.
